COVID-19 vaccination program mobile clinics update - Aug. 11, 2021

HAMILTON, ON – The Hamilton healthcare partners continue to make progress in vaccinating members of the community who fall into the Province’s COVID-19 Vaccination Framework. To date, Hamilton health care partners have administered 748,710 doses of COVD-19 vaccine – with 77.5% of Hamiltonians over the age of 12 receiving a vaccine to date and 68.3% of individuals over the age of 12 completing their vaccine series.

The Hamilton healthcare partners, along with the “new” Provincial GO-VAXX Bus initiative will be bringing the COVID-19 vaccine to even more residents of Hamilton by bringing more mobile clinics to neighbourhoods across the city. These clinics will be situated in areas of the city with lower vaccination coverage rates in order to improve access to the vaccine.  Individuals 12 years of age and older who are eligible to receive a first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine can walk-in to any of the below clinics.

Public Health Services recommends that everyone who is eligible for a vaccination receive the first vaccine that is available to them. We need to work together to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community, to reserve healthcare and hospital capacity and to protect vulnerable populations.

Quick facts

• The Pfizer vaccine is currently the only COVID-19 vaccine that has been authorized by Health Canada for use in individuals aged 12 and over.
• On June 26, 2021, Hamilton youth ages 12 to 17 became eligible for an accelerated second dose at a 28-day interval.
• Vaccine administration rates may differ based on local context.
• Mixing of mRNA vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer), as well as mixing AstraZeneca and an mRNA vaccine is safe, effective and makes sure more Hamiltonians can receive their second dose and its strong protection against COVID-19 sooner.

• All vaccination planning is based on and contingent on available COVID-19 vaccine supply.
