Home Suffers Extensive Damages in Afternoon House Fire
HAMILTON, ON - Hamilton Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 82 Lynbrook Dr., Hamilton at approximately 12:29 pm this afternoon. Upon arrival firefighters confirmed a well involved fire with flames showing from the basement front window of this semi-detached house.
Crews entering the home found a well involved fire in the basement and firefighters immediately began search and rescue operation. During their search and rescue operations firefighters confirmed that there was no one home but firefighters did locate three family pets (two dogs, one cat) and removed them to the outside. Despite all efforts by firefighters all three pets succumbed to their injuries.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire after an aggressive interior attack and were successful in preventing the spread of fire to neighbouring homes.
Damage to the home is extensive and has been estimated at approximately $550,000. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted to assist in determining the cause.
