HSR announces service improvements and the resumption of regular service levels this fall
HAMILTON, ON – In a continuing effort to improve public transit in Hamilton, HSR is announcing service improvements as part of its Ten Year Local Transit Strategy, coming into effect on Sunday, September 5, 2021.
Ten Year Local Transit Strategy Service Improvement Highlights
- Service changes to routes 11 Parkdale, 43 Stone Church and 44 Rymal will facilitate transfers at and adjacent to Heritage Greene Terminal and improve Mountain connectivity
- Operational changes to improve bus reliability for customers
- Enhancements to routes 20 A-Line and 44 Rymal operating on BLAST Network corridors
- A $0.05 increase to non-cash fare options, including PRESTO and special purpose tickets, that will go into effect on Wednesday, September 1, 2021
In addition, HSR will be launching HSR myRide, an on-demand pilot project, on Route 18 Waterdown. This service delivery model will dynamically adjust the route as customers request to be picked up and will improve the customer experience through more direct trips, quicker journeys and shorter wait times. It will also provide more access to key destinations in Waterdown that are currently inaccessible by conventional transit offerings. Route 18 Waterdown will operate as an on-demand route beginning Tuesday, September 7, 2021.
To ensure that customers can get back to work and school this fall, and as the province continues to gradually lift COVID-19 health measures, HSR will be resuming regular service levels on most routes starting Sunday, September 5, 2021.
