Opening Reception for Jude Johnson’s Anne Foster Windows Display
HAMILTON, ON - The City of Hamilton invites the public to attend the opening reception for the newest Anne Foster Windows display on Friday, June 8 from 6 to 9 pm at the Tourism Hamilton Visitor Centre, 28 James Street North.
Created by local musician and visual artist Jude Johnson, the window display includes artwork and objects that celebrate Hamilton’s rich music history.
The opening reception will include:
Remarks from the artist Jude Johnson at 7 pm
Performances by Hamilton musician Bruce Tournay between 6 and 8 pm
The reception takes place during the monthly James Street North Art Crawl, and Johnson’s display can be viewed through August 26, 2018.
Located along James Street North on the 1st floor of the Lister Building, the storefront windows that hold the display were the entrance to the Anne Foster Music Shop for more than 50 years (1942-1995). The display by Johnson is one of seven artist-designed window displays that celebrate Hamilton’s music scene as part of the Anne Foster Windows pilot program. Running from September 2017 through June 2019, displays rotate every three months.
