Red Hill Valley Parkway southbound closure to begin on June 14

HAMILTON, ON – Last month, the City of Hamilton closed all northbound lanes on the Red Hill Valley Parkway (RHVP) to accommodate resurfacing. Construction in the northbound lanes is nearing completion, and the northbound RHVP is anticipated to re-open on June 12, weather permitting.

Re-opening of the northbound lanes will occur slowly in stages beginning mid-day on Wednesday, June 12. Ramps at the north end of the parkway will reopen first, and it is anticipated that the entire parkway will be open by early evening.

Construction in the southbound lanes will begin on June 14 at 10 pm. All lanes will be completely closed in the southbound direction between the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) and the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway at Mud St/Stone Church Road for approximately three weeks.

Prior to beginning resurfacing operations, the City will collect samples and test the asphalt on the southbound side of the RHVP.

In addition to new high quality asphalt, the RHVP resurfacing project will bring additional safety enhancements to the parkway, including 10 km of new steel guiderails with reflectors, bright durable lane markings, rumble strips, and more.
