Statement by Mayor Fred Eisenberger on the State Funeral for Former Prime Minister John Turner

HAMILTON, ON – Our country is mourning the Right Honourable John Napier Wyndham Turner, Canada’s 17th Prime Minister, who passed away on September 19, 2020 at the age of 91. The Government of Canada is holding a state funeral today beginning at 11 am est. Canadians are invited to watch the ceremony live on CBC and Radio-Canada television and web streaming platforms.

To honour his memory and service to Canada, the flag at City Hall will be lowered to half-mast until sunset this evening.
