Summit will address Hamilton’s affordable housing crisis
HAMILTON, ON - In Hamilton, the rental and ownership housing market has experienced tremendous change over the last decade; rising housing costs have created serious challenges for individuals and families, whether they rent or own their own homes. On February 27, 2019 Hamilton City Council approved a motion related to a “Hamilton Housing Summit” aimed at proactively addressing these issues. This half-day summit will raise awareness on the housing complexities and challenges that are unique to Hamilton and engage community partners and subject matter experts in a conversation to explore innovative and creative ways to address affordable housing.
This event is open to the media and public and will be available for remote viewing via livestream. The Summit will include a keynote speaker and expert panel discussion followed by comments from housing sector representatives, community stakeholders and members of the public on the current challenges to ensuring everyone has access to affordable housing in Hamilton.
Delegation requests can be sent to [email protected] by 12 noon on May 13, 2019. Speakers are provided with a maximum 5-minute timeslot. Due to time restrictions, delegations will be limited.
