Construction beginning on Claremont Access for resurfacing and creation of the Keddy Access Trail
HAMILTON, ON – Beginning on Monday, July 6, the City of Hamilton will start construction in the upbound lanes of the Claremont access. The upbound lanes will be completely closed beginning Monday until November 2020 to accommodate resurfacing and the construction of the new Keddy Access Trail.
The upbound lanes will be resurfaced between Main Street and Inverness Avenue. The ramp to West 5th Street along the Mountain Brow will also be resurfaced.
The Keddy Access Trail, a multi-use trail network, will be constructed along the same corridor, between Hunter Street and West 5th Street, with side connections at four locations (including an entry point at Hunter Street and Claremont Access). These connections will be three-metre wide asphalt trails, located at:
- West Avenue (near Wellington Street).
- St Joseph’s Drive
- North and south sides of Arkledun Avenue / Jolley Cut
- Tanner Street through Southam Park
Given the significance of this project, the City has launched a dedicated project website to share timelines and more specific details: www.hamilton.ca/claremont
The City of Hamilton thanks residents for their patience and cooperation as we complete these important infrastructure upgrades.
