Media invited to join Hamilton City Council on ward-by-ward bus tour as part of new Council orientation
HAMILTON, ON – Members of the media are invited to join Mayor Horwath, members of City Council and senior staff for a ward-by-ward bus tour of the city on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
The purpose of the tour is to provide new Council with an opportunity to tour the city’s wards as a group to learn more about the various opportunities and challenges facing our city, with a focus on the proposed greenbelt removals and urban boundary expansions.
Date: Wednesday, November 23, 2022
Time: 9 am to 5 pm
Seating is limited and will be confirmed on a first come, first served basis. The media are advised that attending the tour will require travelling with the bus for the full day/duration of the tour. Alternatively, media may follow the route/bus via their own vehicle if they are only able to dedicate part of the day to the tour, however please note that the tour is mostly an onboard guided tour with only two actual stops, one late morning and one mid-afternoon.
The tour is considered a meeting of the City’s General Issues Committee (GIC) under Ontario’s Municipal Act, so arrangements are being made to mobile-stream the tour via the City’s website and YouTube channel to ensure we comply with the requirements of the Act. In the event the mobile stream experiences any disruptions, discussion will be paused until such time that the stream is re-established, at which point viewers of the meeting will be provided with an update.
Please R.S.V.P. for the tour to [email protected] and Communications staff will send you a confirmation of your space on the bus (if required) and provide information about the route and where to board.
A media briefing will also be held at the end of the bus tour at City Hall on the second floor with Mayor Horwath and members of Council. Media will be advised of the start time for the briefing shortly before the end of the tour.
