Overnight and evening road work at the Memorial Square intersection
HAMILTON, ON – In an effort to complete traffic signal improvements, the City of Hamilton hired Rankin Construction to work at the Memorial Square intersection (King Street (East-West), Memorial Square (South), and Sydenham Street (North) in Dundas during the late evening and overnight hours of the week of September 3rd, 2018.
Although some preparatory work will take place during regular work hours, additional work is scheduled for the following (weather permitting):
The timing was selected in order to best manage vehicular and pedestrian traffic flows through the downtown core. A combination of road and lane closures will be required to complete this work.
For worker safety, the existing traffic signal will be placed on all-way flash, on all 3 nights, so drivers will need to treat this intersection as a 4-way stop.
Following the night work, daytime work will be performed, one corner at a time, at all corners, to complete the signal improvements. This will take place over the next several weeks.
Please note that this work will result in excessive noise during the evening and overnight hours. The City of Hamilton, and its vendor, will make every effort to complete the work in a timely manner in order to keep any inconvenience to nearby residents to a minimum. We thank residents for their patience as we complete this work.
