Dundurn National Historic Site presents Soupreme Historic Cooking Workshop

HAMILTON, ON – The cooks at Dundurn Castle invite the public to join them for a fun and engaging cooking workshop in the Historic Kitchen at 610 York Blvd. on Sat. Sept. 21 from 10 am to 12 noon. Tickets are $50 per person and pre-registration is required. Suitable for persons 14 years of age and older. All recipes are vegetarian-friendly.

Participants will be bowled over with a selection of the cook’s favourite soups! Victorian cooks were cast with a strength that rivalled their iron cookware and were impressively capable considering the technology available in the era. The workshop includes a demonstration, a hands-on experience preparing a delicious soup using a 19th century cast iron wood-fired range, a booklet of the selected recipes to take home, and a complimentary family admission pass for a return visit valued at $32. View the event listing

• Dundurn Castle is a 40-room Italianate-style villa built in the 1830s by Sir Allan Napier MacNab.
• MacNab was a railway magnate, lawyer and Premier of the United Canadas (1854-1856).
• Today, Dundurn Castle tells the story of the family who lived above stairs and the servants who lived and worked below stairs to support their affluent lifestyle.
• Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cornwall, is the museum’s Patron and the great, great, great granddaughter of Sir Allan MacNab.
